CUT to YOU | Interlocking Hexagons | You Are Awesome | Mel Field

Image
Hey there crafty friends! I'm here again to share with you my second project for this month for the CUT to YOU Design Team. I have again used more than one cut file from CUT to YOU for this project and whilst I had no real plan in the beginning for my layout I am very happy with the end result.   This photo was taken of my son at the end of the 2019 Australian Scout Jamboree in Tailem Bend, South Australia. They had endured a very hot, windy, dusty and then some rain for the two weeks. It was a tough Jamboree and the colour of his face is evidence of that. I will never forget the colour of the water as I soaked his clothes after it or the colour difference between his feet and legs when he removed his dusty socks. I love love love scrapbooking pages of my boys, there is just something about masculine pages and I often sway to these well and truly before feminine pages. I also love love love using mixed media for my masculine layouts. I have created this background using some...

CUT to YOU | Circles Sliced Background & Streamers | Happy Birthday | Mel Field

Hey there CUT to YOU friends!  My first project for this month is all about my son's birthday. This layout took quite some time to put together and make work...I am so happy with the end result though. It pays to keep chipping away (generally how I scrap these days due to work commitments)!! One of the things I just love about using cut files is that you can use one on your project or, like I have in this project, more than one! You can size them according to your preference and they just create the best projects.  I started this project with 2 different patterned papers and black cardstock to make my base. I wanted the layout to be a bit grungy so I used my brayer to spread a small amount of white paint in the background and on top of the cut file once I had backed it. I also splattered some white acrylic paint. The main cut file I have used is the Circles Sliced Background . I decided to cut this in black card stock and have backed it with one of my favourite collections by ...

CUT to YOU | Sew Loved Too & Love Hearts by Caitlin Background | 25 Years of Mr & Mrs | Mel Field

Hey there creative friends! I made it a task of mine to finish scrapbooking our wedding album before our 25th Anniversary...whilst I have made some great progress, I haven't finished and it is our anniversary tomorrow 😬  Well, I guess it means I just get to reminisce for longer! Today, I am sharing a layout and the process I have taken to complete it combining two beautiful  cut files from CUT to YOU. This layout celebrates our 25th Wedding Anniversary 💕💕 I am so thankful, grateful and blessed to have married Jason 25 years ago and look forward to  the next 25 years 💕💕 In one of my recent posts for CUT to YOU, I said that I would use another part of the  Sew Loved Too cut file. When you cut the files there are several parts that you may use together or do as I have and separate them over several layouts. This time I have used the thin heart outline from the cut file. I have coloured it with Distress Oxide …I just love this colour and it suited the go...

CUT to YOU | Sew Loved Too & Cousin Squad | Cousin Squad Together |

Hey there Everyone! I am back to share with you today the first of my projects for this month for the CUT to YOU Design Team. This project was definitely a labour of love, but boy did I love creating it and am so happy with the result. I decided to use two cut files to create this layout, cut files that maybe haven’t had a lot of exposure previously or haven’t been seen on our blog for a little while.   This photo of all the cousins from my side of the family (my nieces and nephews) was taken at my son’s 18th birthday earlier this year. It is not often that we are able to get together so it is always nice to get an updated photo of the cousins all together. They grow up oh so quickly, so these photos are very special. The first cut file I used was the Sew Loved Too cut file. I decided to cut this nearly 12x12 size so that I was able to use it as a background for the layout. This cut file, when cut, has a few parts ~ the centre of the heart (which I have used), the thin outline of t...

CUT to YOU | Floral Garland 02 | Grateful | Mel Field

Hey there Everyone! It is Mel here to share with you today my latest project for the CUT to YOU Design Team. I decided that given it was May (and it was Mother’s Day last week) I would dedicate my project and post to an inspirational woman in my life, my Godmother. Have you got someone that you could dedicate a post or project to this month as well? I have used the absolutely stunning  Floral Garland 02  cut file from CUT to YOU. This cut file comes as part of a KIT to YOU file. Now I don’t know about you, but when I first started using cut files I LOVED this option for all of the extra tips and ideas you get as part of the kit. It is also awesome for those days when the old mojo is not performing quite so well.  I really wanted to highlight all of the gold tones in this photo. So keeping to my love of mixed media I used my brayer to add some Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain in Tarnished Brass and black gesso in the background. But most importantly, I wanted my cut...
