Sketches in Thyme

Image
After a little break from Sketches in Thyme after a very busy term at work.. today sees the April sketch released over at the Sketches in Thyme blog. Here is the sketch... I have used a gorgeous photo of my niece, Aimee. She was a little younger than she is now. Here is my take on the sketch... For this layout I have used the Kaisercraft - Fine and Sunny collection. The background is the Chirp page. I have used a bird and birdhouse from another page and some foam tape to create some dimension around the tree. I have used some parts of other pages to create the cute little embellishments, some tags and a kite.  I have used the alpha stickers from the collection to create the title. In the top right hand corner I have used some washi tape in similar colours to the rainbow. To check out what the other team members have created, head over to the Sketches in Thyme blog . I did complete the sketch for March however, I failed to post it online prior ...

Sketches in Thyme #122

Image
It is very exciting that Sketches in Thyme is up and running again. After it finishing up last year I noticed that completed layouts of my son, especially when he was a baby, had diminished.  So my task of using the sketches from the Sketches in Thyme blog to complete only photos of my son has just started again. Yay! Here is Sketch #122 As we are currently on our Summer holiday by the beach in our caravan I had to be clever with what I would take to scrapbook. I couldn't (unfortunately) take my whole collection. Actually, it would be great to have my own caravan for scrapbooking (shhh! Don't tell my hubby! :)).  Anyway, I thought Santa photos would be the easiest. Here is my take on Sketch #122. I have used the Simple Stories ~ Handmade Holiday Collection . Simple Stories would have to be one of my most favourite paper companies. All of the embellishments and tags are cut from the papers so there was no need to bring along a heap of embellishm...

Sketches in Thyme #117

Welcome to my next post for Sketches in Thyme. Today sees the sketch #117 go live on the blog. The Team B Mavens have done an awesome job with this sketch. If you haven't been over to Sketches in Thyme click on this link  to head on over and see the awesome work the girls have done. For my layout, I have again focussed on a photo to add to Brayden's baby album (remember I am running very behind with his baby album). Have you ever scrapped photos that are not sensational? That the quality is pixelated or a little out of focus?? Well, I have tackled that challenge with this sketch. 8 1/2 years ago we didn't own a good DSLR. We actually used my hubby's camera from work which took 3 1/2 inch floppy disks. Obviously the quality of the photos were not great! However, these are the photos we have to remember all of the special occasions, meetings and times during Brayden's first few years...so they must be scrapped. This photo was taken when my Nan, ...

So much has happened since my last post. I have been flat out with so many exciting things and a lot of work!! My last post was posted the day I headed to the Scrapbookit Retreat. Wow! What an awesome weekend! We all headed to Bright for the weekend. There was plenty of food, scrapping, inspiration, great conversation and friendships, fun and heaps of laughter! I was lucky enough to have my Mum and Sisters Jenn and Shell there too! What a great girls weekend away! We had a dress up night on the Saturday night......lots of fun. Here is one photo... Can you guess who we are???? Such an awesome weekend! The next weekend we had the school fundraising dinner. Then the 'road trip' of the century.... Five of us in a car - Jason, Brayden, Coll, Jess and I all the way to Sydney, 4 Swans supporters and 1 Essendon supporter. Yes we went to see the Sydney v Essendon game at the SCG. Besides the awesome result and the fun we had singing the Swans song to J...

Here I am sharing my latest post for Sketches in Thyme . Each month the Mavens over at Sketches in Thyme share some great layouts based on brilliant sketches. Make sure you pop over and check them out. This month the first sketch I have been working with is.... Here is my take on this gorgeous sketch... I have used the gorgeous Echo Park papers ~ Sweet Girl. Jo @ Scrapbookit  sent them to me to work with for the Scrapbookit Design Team and I just can't get enough of them at the moment!!!!! There is a bit of Tim Holtz Distress paint and white paint on the background so that the patterned paper wasn't so stark. This photo of my gorgeous niece Charlotte was taken not long before they moved to Virginia Beach, USA. She was and still is such a cutie! Make sure you pop on over to Sketches in Thyme - sketchesinthyme.blogspot.com.au  to see the rest of the teams gorgeous work. Anyway I best be off....I am busy packing and organising for a w...

Sketches in Thyme Sketch #108

Image
Well it is time to share with you my latest project for Sketches in Thyme . I am really loving being part of the SiT Team and being a Design Maven. I am using this position as an opportunity to do a bit of catch up on my son's baby album. The years are flying by and I am still plugging away at it! I am loving the memories though that are re-lived as I complete each sketch. This month we are up to Sketch #108.....here it is.... I am not normally very good using small photos and as I am trying to use up the baby photos that have been printed for 8 years I had to use a little bit of my own artistic licence! Another thing that is a little hard for me is the quality of the photos. 8 years ago we were using a camera that my hubby had from work...we were not really in a position to have anything better. So a lot of the photos are very pixelated. I am not going to leave them from being scrapped because of their quality.....they are far too important! Here is my inter...
